Safe
Space Takes on CPAC - The Conservative Tech Movement is Growing!
Over the past weekend, the SafeSpace team had the privilege of attending the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort just outside of Washington D.C. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with hundreds of America's most passionate patriots, engage with tech entrepreneurs at the forefront of the fight against big tech, and listen to a diverse range of speakers sharing their perspectives on the most pressing issues facing our great nation. If we got the chance to meet you this weekend, we’d like to extend a virtual thank you for your support, words of encouragement, and feedback on our mission here at Safe
Space. Here’s a brief summary of what we saw at CPAC, through a technologist’s lens.
We had the opportunity to sit down and chat with the folks from Datasys, one of the main sponsors at CPAC. Datasys is a data analytics and marketing company that specializes in compiling and utilizing large consumer and business data sets to help clients target and market to their ideal customers and demographics. Datasys is taking a productive approach to the culture war. While the company doesn't market itself as conservative, its founders hold strong "America First" beliefs. They recognize that the best way to combat left-leaning big tech firms is to build the best products and offer them to companies that share their values. By taking this approach, Datasys aims to provide intelligent marketing solutions that align with the values of their clients.
I asked one representative the following question: “As data professionals, if you could offer conservative tech companies one piece of advice, what would it be?”
In order to ensure anonymity, I won’t share his name, but the Datasys representative had this to say in response:
“Probably the best advice that we could give is, instead of just throwing something at a wall and seeing what sticks, try to get more targeted in the data that they’re using. Make sure that the message that they’re sending is delivered to the groups that are going to be receptive to that particular message - and we can make that possible for any company.”
I then asked the rep to describe Datasys in his own words - giving us as technologists an idea of how we could utilize their services. He had this to say:
“We are a digital marketing company. What sets us apart from other digital marketing companies is that the data we utilize drives all of our campaigns. We are first and foremost a data company. We are one of the largest data compilers in the United States and we are the largest privately owned data compiler. All of our data points have over 400 different demographic and psychological points on them, so we can identify things like, how many cars a person has to how many people are in their family, to who they vote for and who they give their money to, politically. We can utilize these data points in order to make sure our campaigns are directed to the exact right audiences 100% of the time.”
Thank you, Datasys for sharing with us how you're utilizing data to help win this culture war, best of luck in the future!
We then had the opportunity to sit down with Michael Seifert, CEO and Founder of Public Sq. They recently announced their intentions to IPO later this year - Safe
Space wrote an article outlining the details of this announcement last week. In case you didn’t already know, Public Sq. is a platform that allows freedom loving Americans to shop from values-aligned businesses all across the United States. Public Sq. boasts an active user base of almost half a million, and a directory of companies nearing 50,000.
During our chat, as well as his speech during his panel, Michael Seifert emphasized the growing importance of the parallel economy and urged Americans to shift away from larger, "woke" platforms like Amazon in favor of alternatives like Public Sq. He also stressed the need for conservative technologists to develop robust and reliable software, similar to the sentiments expressed by the Datasys representative mentioned above. As Michael pointed out, building a high-quality product with top-notch software is crucial to competing with the left. While some on the right may believe that users will tolerate a product with bugs and other flaws, the reality is that people expect a certain level of performance and reliability from the products they use. Michael's team has successfully built an industry-standard product that can compete with major players like Amazon and Yelp. This is why they have achieved success in the market for a conservative marketplace. The demand for such a platform certainly exists, but consumers will only embrace it if it functions at the same level as the established players. And with Public Sq, Michael and his team have achieved precisely that.
In addition to speaking with those two conservative tech power players, we had the privilege of connecting with folks in our demographic - conservative technologists, and their stories were nothing short of inspiring. For instance, we met a systems engineer who had to leave two major tech firms in 2021 because of his refusal to get vaccinated. Undeterred, he now works in IT for an accounting firm that shares his values. We also spoke with a highly skilled Typescript developer who turned down lucrative offers from big tech companies because he refused to compromise his principles. And we heard from three computer science majors at the University of Colorado at Boulder, who landed internships with boulder based tech firms, only to quit or be let go due to their vaccine stances. And these are just a few examples. As we spoke with more conservative technologists, it became clear that the left views them as a threat and often pushes them out of their positions. Nevertheless, these talented developers, engineers, designers etc. are finding comparable jobs with comparable salaries within the parallel economy. Their resilience and determination to stand by their values is truly admirable.
Oh … and as an added bonus, one of us got to meet the meme king himself, Donald Trump Jr. That was electric!
But in all seriousness, the conservative tech movement is rapidly gaining momentum, and we at Safe
Space are privileged to have strong relationships with all the key players in this emerging market. If you, or someone you know, is looking to transition away from the woke, corporate, big tech world and join companies that share your values and won't cancel you for your beliefs, we encourage you to reach out to us at safebrspace@gmail.com. This is the perfect time to seize the opportunity and become a part of the conservative tech gold rush. There is ample potential for financial gain and personal fulfillment in this burgeoning industry. We welcome all interested folks to get in touch and learn more about what the future may hold.
